On Tuesday, November 15, 2016, Mark will be presenting on the topic of “IP Protection Update for Massachusetts Employers” at the monthly meeting of the MetroWest Human Resources Management Association. Seminar Description:
The fuel that powers the engine of the Massachusetts economy is the development of intellectual property, or “IP.” IP is frequently the most valuable asset of employers. Because of their unique exposure to IP, employees pose significant risks to employers’ IP. As a result, smart employers need to ensure that they have taken concrete steps to protect their IP and also be aware of the tools that exist under federal and state law to protect IP.
Mark will discuss and explore the following:
- The new federal Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 and Its Impact on Employers
- Status of the legislative effort to reform noncompete law in Massachusetts
- Status of the effort to adopt the Uniform Trade Secrets Act in Massachusetts
- Other best practices for shoring up employers’ protections of IP
